Written by Jodi Street | 15-Apr-2025 09:33:38

When taking part in family court proceedings, it can be very tempting to want to share the details of what you and the children involved are going through with friends and family.

However, there are strict rules in place regarding the sharing of information in family court proceedings, which is in place to protect the privacy of the people involved in the case, particularly the children involved.

On 20 March 2025, the Courts service updated their guidance about sharing information outside of family court proceedings.

The guidance includes information on:

  • Why there are rules about sharing information outside court
  • When you can share information
  • What you can share
  • Who can share information about a case
  • When you might need a Judge to approving you sharing permission about a case

If you are taking part in a family court case, it would be good to read the guidance, which you can find at the link below.
