I joined Porter Dodson as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2023, having completed my Law and French degree, LPC and Master of Law at Cardiff University.
My training contract began in the Private Client Team. I assisted with drafting Wills, Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney and estate administration to obtain a Grant of Probate. I hugely enjoyed meeting clients every day in this seat, I felt this was an important aspect of the work when we are dealing with such personal matters.
My second seat was within the Family department, spending time in the Childcare and Matrimonial Teams. I had the opportunity to attend a number of interesting hearings in Family Courts across the South West. I attended hearings with both our in-house barrister and also Counsel from Chambers. I was able to provide support to the client during a stressful time and witnessed the divorce process from start to finish.
I am now in my third seat with the Residential Property Team in Yeovil. The work in this department is very fast-paced, I work on both sale and purchase files, assisting with exchange of contracts, drafting completion statements and liaising with estate agents and solicitors on the other side to work towards completion.
Porter Dodson offers countless fun out-of-office activities, from netball to paddleboarding to bingo in our lunch break. In the summer, along with some colleagues, I also took part in the Stonehenge Trek26 Hike to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Outside of work I enjoy swimming in the sea, especially exploring new beaches in Dorset and Devon, spending time with my family and friends and I’m a keen scrapbooker.
Bryony you are a star. You were very calm and helpful. Thank you again.
