I joined Porter Dodson as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2023, having completed my GDL and LPC at City, University of London.
During my first seat, within the Family departments Childcare Team, I assisted with a variety of matters, including parental disputes and adoption. I had the opportunity to attend many hearings with my colleagues, as well as Counsel, and also advised and assisted several clients directly during public law outline meetings.
My second seat was in our Contentious Trusts and Probate Team where I helped successfully defend and bring claims against the validity of Wills, and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
I am currently in my third seat in the Corporate Commercial Team. I am working alongside the team to complete company acquisitions on both the sale and purchase side, as well as various corporate re-structures, including the formation of employee-ownership trusts.
Representing the firm in several sports including hockey, mixed netball, rugby sevens, football and rounders has been a real highlight of my time at Porter Dodson so far.
I have also supported various charity events which the firm has participated in, such as ‘Wrong Trousers’ day in support of the Grand Appeal. I attended ‘An Evening in Tribute to Barnaby Webber’, an event particularly close to my heart as a former student of Taunton School at the same time as Barnaby.
Will was professional but human and not stuffy or robotic. Will helped me through my ordeal with kindness and understanding.
The prompt manner in which Will replied to correspondence…the manner in which Will laid out his advice and, last but by no means least, how Will demonstrated a grasp of the particular circumstances of this case shone through.
Thank you for all your support through this ghastly time. Your prompt responses were greatly appreciated.
